Activity (A)

In here, I will be talking about the things under the Activity aspect of CAS.

1. Varsity Football Season

September-November 2018

1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Through this long season, my team and I went on a journey together. Having not been a goalkeeper before, I filled in to be a replacement for the goalkeeper spot. Although I made some mistakes, it was all part of learning. We won football games together throughout the season and lost together with our heads held up high as part of a wonderful team spirit in which we had throughout the season. Through our ups and downs, we learned many things as a team. Team spirit is very important when it comes to success. Although we definitely didn't have the best team out there and we had only a few star players, our coach put that underdog mentality in us that if we went out there, we could beat anyone if we gave it our all. It was amazing to play with these guys. I definitely had one of my best times ever when I went out and played this team because we all played for each other. It is special to have something like that. In the end, I was very proud of the team, because we finished runner ups in the league when we definitely stood no chance in the beginning of the season.

2. Football Tournament @Concordion

November 24-25, 2018

1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

After our football season was over, we were invited to take part in the SEAIS tournament held at Concordian International School in which some ASEAN schools were a part of. As mentioned earlier, our team wasn't the best and we also didn't have our main player during the tournament. But, we still went there trying to go all the way, because that is just how this team was. We fought really hard through the first day, making it past the round robins and through to the knockout stages of the tournament. The team fought through and made it through to the semi-finals and ultimately had fallen there. But, we still finished strong and together finished 3rd out of the 12 teams that were there. As I said before, this was my first year playing as goalkeeper and during the summation of this tournament, I was given a medal, recognized by other coaches as one of the 11 players to make the team of the tournament. It was definitely a surprise but, it goes to show the journey we all took as players and teammates.

3. 2019 Wells Sports Day April 3, 2019

1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Sports day is an occasion where class members come together and collaboratively take part in different sports as a commemorative day where every one tries to win sports day. Ultimately, its not down to winning because winning isn't everything and that's where I think the mentality was wrong. It should be a day where everyone has fun and takes part in sports that they've always wanted to take part in and maybe show everybody what's up along the way. There was also many questionable rules that took away the spirit of the class such as people coming a few minutes late not being able to play. But, it's in the past, I had fun and my football team took first as usual. HAHA. Toni carried us in the finals with a hat trick I believe and it was definitely a cool moment. We had won the previous year, but this year everything went downhill which could be down to the wrong mentality in which we came in with but, oh well. In the end, everyone tried to do their best and worked together playing in the sports they excelled at.

In my family trip with my relatives to Malaysia during the break, we had gone trekking up a mountain in which we got lost several times but found our way in the end.
